“Israel, Palestine, and the United States: What Americans Need to Know”

Drawing on her best-selling book, Against Our Better Judgment: The Hidden History of How the U.S. Was Used to Create Israel, former journalist Alison Weir will discuss the century-long pro-Israel movement in the U.S., media coverage of Israel-Palestine, the role of Israel partisans in promoting the Iraq War and in the continued demonization of Iran, and developments under the Trump administration. The talk will be followed by prayers and iftar/dinner.

Simple, modest dress code: Long sleeves, long skirts and pants
Please refrain from wearing shorts or sleeveless tops
Head scarves for women not required but welcome and highly recommended
Attendees are asked to remove their shoes before entering the prayer hall, so wear slip-off shoes or clean socks/stockings

Weir’s book is available on Amazon (iakn.us/AOBJ-book) in Kindle format ($6.95) and in print, and will also be available at the event.
Weir is executive director of If Americans Knew (www.IfAmericansKnew.org) and president of the Council for the National Interest (www.cnionline.org). Her bio can be found here:

Reviews:
“Ms. Weir presents a powerful, well documented view of the Middle East today. She is intelligent, careful, and critical. American policy makers would benefit greatly from hearing her first-hand observations and attempting to answer the questions she poses. This is an intellectual, thought-provoking, and worthwhile presentation.”
-Thomas Campbell, Former US Congressman (R-CA), Dean of Chapman University Fowler School of Law
“When the speech ended, Ms. Weir was met with thunderous applause, and across the room there was a widespread sense of satisfaction that someone was saying what needed to be said.”
-New York Times
